OUR HISTORY MHCC began in 1965 as a "daughter church" of First Christian Church in Harriman, Tennessee. Since then, MHCC has grown from about 35 members to an average attendance of 245 today. MHCC added a second morning worship service in 1989 and a third in 1997. The extra services have allowed the church to grow in a limited facility, and to offer a choice of worship times and styles. Past/present ministers include: Wilbur Reid (1965-67); Tom Warner (1967-73); Danny Nunn (1973-76); Tom Hunt (1977-80); Tommy Smith (1980-83); Tim Hanze (1983-87); and Dennis Mullen (1988-present). John Pryor has been MHCC's only full-time youth minister (1991-present). David Pryor became MHCC's discipleship minister in 2002. Mark Laprise became MHCC's director of Young Adult ministries in 2005. MHCC is part of a non-denominational fellowship of churches known simply as "the Christian church" or "the church of Christ," or sometimes "the Restoration Movement." Our ideal is to practice Christianity as simply as we can, after the pattern found in the New Testament. Above, you'll find some of our beliefs and purposes. There's nothing novel or unique here - just the basic doctrines Christians have found in the New Testament through the ages.
