THE MISSION: A beautiful and simple picture of the mission appears in Matthew 9:36-38, which says: 36 When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. 37 Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. 38 Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.”
The harvest field is the hearts and minds and wills of all the souls who need to put their faith in Christ and find salvation.
Not all of those folks are off in the far-flung corners of the earth. Some live right around us.
And yet, sharing the Gospel close to home can be like trying to farm a concrete field. Many have already heard some version of the Gospel, and have either rejected it or else cannot see any relevance to their lives. Others, slaves to sin, have no apparent interest in following Jesus.
So let’s pray today that the Lord will show the harvest AROUND US. And if the harvest isn’t ready, ask Him to show us where we can plant a seed, or provide a little water, or let the sun shine with the light of our example.
Pray for this local harvest for yourself, your family and our church.
(REMEMBER: Tuesday is our day to FAST and pray).
