I recently read a letter written by a retired pastor, Lee Eclov, to ministers that told them to follow what God did with the Israelites when He took them from Egypt and met with them at Mount Sinai. (The letter was entitled: Take Them to the Mountain, Christianity Today.)
This got me thinking…
Exodus 19:1-2 On the first day of the third month after the Israelites left Egypt - on that very day - they came to the Desert of Sinai. After they set out from Rephidim, they entered the Desert of Sinai, and Israel camped there in the desert in front of the mountain.
God worked through Moses to free His people from slavery and teach them how to live in the Promised Land with many blessings, and what they needed to do so the people around them would learn of Him and in turn follow Him as their one and only God.
Our people have been in a form of slavery as the coronavirus has moved across the country. Our freedom to live life as we would like has been taken away for a time. But you could say we are now at the foot of the mountain. The leaders God has in place need to listen to God, learn what He has for us to do, and let Him work through us to teach His people how to live their lives and be blessed from this point on. Then with what we are told, all of us need to live our lives and share all our blessings so the people around us would learn of Him and choose to follow Him as their one and only God.
Winston Churchill said: “We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.” The promise of blessing God gave to Abraham still holds true for today so whatever God has given us we need to share to bless others as well.
